Shokaku colour

Which is the correct colour IJN Kure or IJN Sasebo Arsenal grey .I would use Tamija oaints

As with any IJN ship, the colour in a specific timeframe always depended on the major mainland-Japanese port/arsenal where the ship was last maintained. That can be found in the ship's Tabular Record of Movement, the one for Shokaku you find at http://www.combinedfleet.com/shokaku.htm. So for instance, before Battle of Coral Sea Shokaku was maintained in Yokosuka in March 1942, so her colour there was Yokosuka grey (as most if not all of the time - Yokosuka was her primary base).
Tamiya does not have Yokosuka grey in their range, but e.g. WEM have it (synthetic, not acrylic paint). You can also get paint chips from Snyder & Short. If you want to do it simple, Yokosuka grey was somewhere in between Kure and Sasebo but had a bit greenish shade - so adding a few drops of dark green into Tamiya Kure grey can do the job for you.

Thank you i have mixed the color . Which deck color should i use i have seen some in Linoleum brown and some models in deck tan

Wood for the flight deck (Hinoki Cypress more specifically) and linoleum on some lower decks and the same gray on the other deck surfaces. I'm not an expert enough to say which goes where, but hopefully there's a paint diagram for you that will show this.

As far as I know Bei-matsu pine was used for IJN carrier decks (and some BBs, too - e.g. Kongo-class) which is a bit darker and more orange-tinted than Hinoki cypress (which is - let's say - tan), see http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery ... index.html. I do not know of any ready-made paint of this particular colour.

I could be wrong on the Hinoki - I just remember it from a discussion. I searched on Google and the only hit I found only confirms that there was some speculation as to the wood here:

I found a Japanese Site with some info on IJN battleship deck. According to them, teak was used upto and including the Ise class, and that the Nagato and Yamato classes had to use cypress primarily because of lack of teak. Also the Yamato classes had to use the more readily available cypress to conceal its existance from foreign intelligence. Another reference I have suggest that the Mutsu used teak but the Nagato and the Yamato class used cypress. None of the references I have clearly state which wood was used for the carriers' flight deck.
The point I want to make is that the carriers in question were all constructed AFTER the Nagato class. Wouldn't it be logical to assume that therefore ALL carriers used cypress and not teak for its flight deck?
Just a thought...

I would not trust that as definitive as the person was posting a theory and question at the same time.
