Blisters for moth balled guns?

Hello all

Does anybody have an idea how I could create blisters for a mothballed ship...here the ones over the 40mm Oelikons? I would need those domes in a 6mm diameter. Thought about making one pattern and then cast them but have not worked with resin so far. 6mm would be around 1/700, i want to send one of my Essex class projects into storage.

Assuming you mean something to protect the guns while you store the ship?
Hmmm, maybe electricians caps (those colourful things for twisting and holding together wires). They come in pretty big sizes.
You could cut the tops off so you have a shorter tube that could be put around the gun and sitting a bit higher than. Not sure if that's what you meant though!

AH.....silly me. kind of figured.
that is a trick. Not sure what you could do. Your idea of casting a single good one is a great idea. It's a complicated shape for sure. My inclination would be to start hunting for a real-world analogue like some kind of jewelry piece in a beading store or engineering piece that could fit the bill or be modified. I find that there's so many 1/350 'thing' out there when you start looking!

You might try round beads. They come in small sizes and if you find the right ones, they're perfectly round. Others have some flat spots where the hole is drilled for the necklace but even those could work as that part would just need some putty. I picked up an assorted pack in the jewelry section of an arts and crafts store ranging from 4-8mm in diameter.

Try sanding them while holding in a set of locking pliers or similar tool until you get half circles. Scribe some panel lines, paint them white, and viola!

I concur. There are beads that have hexagonal planes to them as well which could look like a scaled structure. I'm sure you can find some miniature doodad that would fit the bill nicely.
