Kim, you have the patience of a monk. I would have stormed off the forum with a big *#&! you long ago if I got half as much crap as you get on your product threads. I'm surprised some people aren't demanding you fly across the Pacific to their homes and install their detail sets for them too!

I shouldn't have tried answering any questions from a "guest". From what I have seen, all of PONTOS sets are very good. I am extremely happy with this set and blue deck version is just as good as teak. The plank lines are there with magnifier and can easily be darkened. The color is perfect. So if your looking to get either the blue or teak version, this is the set to get! Looking forward to any more photos that Kim posts here. They help out a lot with building the model along with the great instructions.

To Kim and the team at PONTOS... this set is indeed a masterpiece! The more I work with it, the more pleased I am. Thank you for creating such an outstanding set. For anyone that has this 1/200 scale kit, the set from PONTOS is a must have. The turned brass parts are precise and incredible. Everything has fit perfectly in my process so far. While the parts can be extremely tiny, the way they were thought out by the designers, really makes the process of building a little easier. The jigs to drill holes really helps as well. For anyone that's waiting to receive this, you will not be disappointed! Sorry for adding to the thread again but I just had to give my kudos again to the team at PONTOS.

The comments so far are very interesting. I ordered the basic set (w/o deck) yesterday. I have a question - In the instruction sheet - does it give (as I would think it should) the drill size to use for the hand rung patterns included in the set?

Almost are 0.3mm Drill and all the size was noted on the manual.
And Hank, I would design and make some decks for Vietnam version users though this work will not be released formally.
Not perfect research, but you can work more easy to use WWII version deck or customized by yourself.
After arranging Advanced set, I will share this deck. But there is some extra cost for this specific version.

Thanks for the reply! I'll note the drill size you gave and convert it to US size (inches).

As for the deck, the WWII main deck will not work due to the various small gun mount areas (20mm & 40mm) that are present. The 01-04 levels might work, but I'm not interested in spending the money for the entire deck set and only using the upper levels.

I do appreciate your keeping tabs on our discussions here.

Sorry Hank, I miswrote on the above note.
I would design and produce a few deck for Vienam version.
As this will also remove some gun mount areas and heli landing deck you wish.
So it is quite different deck from WWII version.
This will not be come soon but it will be very helpful who would apply for Vienam version NJ.
As mentioned above, this is not formal products but just for a few NJ fan who bought our 22002F1 set.

We tried to realize almost Watrways on the edge of decks.
Almost green edges of deck are the PE parts for Waterways.

Hi Mr. Kim,

I can't see a waterway on any of the pictures, but I do see the green on your instruction sheet. What I was looking for and hoped you could capture was an absence of deck. A waterway is simply a channel or gutter. On the main deck, they are the width of a chock and come right to the front edge of deck bitts. I hope I can see one of your sets first hand. I hope you can post more pictures soon.

Right now, I am trying to work on a 1/350 Iowa, and I am attempting to print my own decks without decking where the waterway goes. Can you sell me some deck material or tell me where you get yours?

Please do not take this the wrong way. Your stuff is amazing! Please keep up the good work and consider making conversion kits for all four Iowa Class during all of their operational periods. I'm sure you have a huge hit on your hands.

Should the waterways to be painted deck blue 20B on the blue deck version or were they navy blue 5N like the side of the hull? Today they would be gray like the hull but in 1945 when the deck was blue, were these waterways also blue? How about the bow area on deck as well? Deck Blue 20B or 5N? This being the parts pained 5H gray on the side of the bow. Seems that should remain haze gray but trumpeters color guide shows everything blue on the deck although it's extremely hard to tell if it's 5N or deck blue 20B on the guide showing the decks.

At the stern just in front of the right side gun tub, you have "J" and an "H" in a red circle. I assume that is where you are instructing us to add the vents "J" and "H". The only problem is, the kit does not give you any extra "J" and "H" parts to make those vents. All of the "J" and "H" vents were used elsewhere on the model. So unless I'm missing something, that leaves two round cut-outs in the wood deck, with no parts to put anything in them. ?

And as Lloyd mentioned, our vent instruction is a little different from Trumpeter kit's.
They missed 5 vents so we added these 5 vents as scribed brass parts "Brass 07" based on our researching.
So some H and J are located as different ways.

And please note No 820 circular PE parts are not used for our detail sets (23002F1/23003F1 or 22002F1).
This 820 part is for our wooden deck sets(20002WD1 or 20003WD1) that are not included Brass 07 extra vents).

I see where I goofed, You have to use PE parts 874 instead of the vents the kit instructions say to use. That gives you the 2 extra vents, though as you state you must follow the Pontos instructions very carefully as the vent layout does differ from the kit instructions. Thanks Lloyd!

Ah Yep.
Two 874 at inner shields of grouped 20mm on the quarterdeck and one 873 on the stern are just hatches not vents.
