I was interested in seeing how the shell plating transitioned from the riveted and gusseted area over the armored citadel area and the bow and stern shell plating. The photo here shows the somewhat inelegant way in which this was done.

Somebody with an ultimate PE set will even have the chain stoppers and snubbers, probably won't get as far as realistic snubbers.

Of note in your superstructure photo, there is a small inaccuracy in the superstructure below the Admirals Bridge. The fwd facing bulkhead at the aft end of the tapered structure that blends into the coning tower continues straight up, the area that appears to overhang is actually a plate screen open at the top and bottom.

Yes, that's what I thought. As it is I would have to carve the plastic to make it hollow, a job that's impossible now. Also from what I see the New Jersey (that I'm building) doesn't have that "half round" edge

Pretty minor detail. I am not sure what the function of this spacer is, not really anything behind it that is visible. perhaps extra splinter protection for some cables further behind? I just added the half round about 1/2 hour ago. I can see the kit maker would need to make an extra two small parts to get this right and it may not be at all apparent from the plans.

I don't know, the Missouri (WWII Tamiya) has this covers hollow, so I don't know why they ditch them in the modern NJ version :/

But I'm not concerned, there will be a lot more cool detailed places to draw to viewer eye to Detailing the main deck structure now, bye

Does anyone know what year the USN removed the 20mm AA mounts from the Iowa-class BBs? I know that they were long gone from my destroyer by 1957..

In reference to the question on the plating that has the space behind it, the 1956 Booklet of General Plans for the Wisconsin (On HNSA site) has this called out as "Vent Windshield P & S", though it is not drawn as a hollow space.

In reference to the 20mm's, they do not show at all on the '56 plans. However, I believe the positions do show on the '47-'48 plans of the Missouri, but not the guns themselves. I would have to check the pdf on another computer to say definitively.

They would appear(the shields) to have that function, but there is nothing up there (having looked). It is possible something was located there and plated over on BB63. Perhaps the ever helpful CliffyB might be able to shed some light on the function. There are a couple of quite small vents right at deck level, port side right below these features.
