1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001

WOW dudes! Thanks for all the comments and support you guys. I really appreciate all the input.

I finished the last "wall section" for the aft port wall. I've got a couple of photos. Again, I didn't have too many pictures to use as reference for this area and none with a complete photo. Most of the photos that I had are at obscure angles and aircraft or other materials are blocking view of this area in the photo. So with that in mind, I cannot say that this area is close to accurate. I just tried to represent it as best I could, with what I was able to see.

Thanks a bunch again for all the comments, suggestions, and support. I will be dry assembling everything for the hangar before painting and will shoot some overall photos soon.

Superb work as always. Can you maybe do me a favor. Can you fit all of the walls, and take a 2 pictures (one from each side) more from above showing the position where these elements are sitting in relation to the actual kit, it makes it easier for setting out.

Hey Silvershadow. Thanks for your comments first of all. I have taken some photos and added orientation so that hopefully it will be easier to layout the hangar for your build. I had some others ask me to do this as well, so I thought maybe these might help. I tried taking some overhead photos of the entirety of each side, but it proved difficult to see all the components as it was too far away. The photos that I have added below are closer up in sections and are labeled to help orientate.

Thanks Brian001. I think the photo below shows what you are referring to. I added a second photo showing some more and their use. If these are what you are asking about, they appear to be supports for shelving. In the second photo you can see what appears to be wooden crates that are stored on the supports. What I am not sure of is what the wooden crates have inside them. Maybe one of our US Navy Carrier servicemen will be able to enlighten us. Hope this helps and answers your question........mostly anyway.

Ha-haaaaaaaaaaa! Red, this made me laugh! And right after that it made sad: it made me think about the hangar I built... You make my hangar look like I just tossed some random pieces of styrene, some airtcaft and a buttload of glue inside the hull, shook it all together, and when it dried, I closed it all up.... And I had the nerve to light up. So everyone can see how shitty it is...especially compared to yours!

If I wore a hat, I would take it off to you right now!!! Instead you just have to settle for me absolutely admiring your beautiful work!!!!! You crazy insane you!

Keep it up! but not too much higher please! I would love to be able to catch up someday!

My thoughts exactly. You should really consider building two models. This one as a display without the flight deck.....or with large parts of the flight deck cut out..........and another WITH the flight deck intact.....and the one with the flight deck don't detail it as much as the first. Yes it would be expensive but oh so unique.

OK, I'm kidding! (sort of)

......but as a serious thought, no one that I'm aware has ever done two seperate carriers using one of them as a hanger deck display only.

I won't be closing up the hangar before painting it that's for sure. It would be far too difficult. When the weather gets a little better, I will start airbrushing all the components. Thanks for the comments and following along ArizonaBB39!

Thanks a bunch Russ! And your idea of making a "cutaway" carrier would be interesting but I don't know if I could bring myself to do it. Now that would be something to see! Your idea of the hangar display did give me an idea for larger scale navy aircraft in a CVN hangar setting..... Thanks again Russ!

Silly question but what is the optimal weather to do painting?I'm still new in this business of building model warships

Since the weather has still been fairly cold here......not like Laci's north pole cold, but still cold. I haven't been able to airbrush or paint anything yet. My spray booth set up is in my garage so I am waiting for a little warmer weather. Anyway, since I had been pouring all my time into construction of the hangar deck, I decided to switch gears for a little bit and start working on some of the deck vehicles. I had purchased a couple different deck vehicle sets to use for this build. The first set is the 1/350 Blackdog Deck tractors accessory set (Freaking awesome and highly recommended), and the second being the 1/350 Admiralty Model Works (Formerly known as JAG) USN Modern Deck Vehicles set (A great set as well). These are both cast in resin and the latter having some photo etch included with the set as well. It took some time removing all the vehicles from the resin casting blocks and cleaning them up, but it was well worth it. My main focus has been on the Tilly Crane included with the AMW set. It is actually an Amphibious Assault Ship Crane which is a bit different from a modern CVN Tilly Crane, but I modified it, which took a little bit of work, but I am very happy with the result. Have a look.
