solution for doing boat tarps and straps
Just a clean simple solution for covering launches with tarps and dealing with boat straps. NOthing fancy, The pictures say it all.

- After painting the tarps, it's easy to affect some boat straps by simply using thinly sliced tape and painting it after it's been installed. Before painting, I've touched the boat straps with more CA to ensure permanence and tooth for my paint. It's no problem to punch holes in the top of the tarp for davits or projecting objects.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is "archival tape," not familiar with the term.

It's tape that is acid free/PH neutral. Art and document conservators use it because it's non-yellowing. I actually lied in this post (this is regular tape), but acid-free masking tape would be ideal if you lose sleep over permanence. I figure that since the tape is covered in a CA layer, plus an acrylic paint layer, it will probably last a long long time. I've used Archival masking tape and it works exactly like regular masking tape.

Thank you, now I know a little something extra, and what to ask for specifically.

Uh, not to worry, I won't tell anyone...sargentx wrote: I actually lied in this post

Being dumb here, would Tamiya yellow tape work?
God grant me the courage not to give up what I think is right even though I think it is hopeless.

Tamiya tape would work great. The yellow sides might be annoying come painting time. Maybe go with a basic tape coloured tape as it would be easier to paint. ???
I don't know.
