Outstanding work! Can you please explain how you produce such fine photoetching for your ship? It looks like you are using Corel Draw for your drawings. How how manage to get the whole pagoda thing alligned and how you created the assonometric wiew of the structure? About the pe deck: how you manage to have a perfect match between the hull and the brass deck?

small udpate:

I made the imitation of plating






they are very delicate - will go under special preshading and wash - should be OK. Only thing I'm woried is that I made them quite unproperly. Though I reduced one level down from 5 into 4 intentionally - I made them a bit too low - too close to portholes....

You'a right - I'm using Corel.
Pagoda - it's just plenty of hours of designing and drawning .... Isometric view came from magazine - As far I remeber : Model Art No15...
Deck - as above - I took a picture of real deck and digitalized it:

Don't forget to drill out the rest of the portholes. Her scuttles were not sealed. Fujimi used the '44 Kongo hull for Kirishima.

portholes done. BTW - it's a shame for Fujimi to make such silly mistake.

I cut off the seals




and it was a mistake. I lost the line - and drilling later on was not straight (mentally and phycically)






I'm not quite happy with results





I'm afraid that after painting all misaligments with be bolded out.

Deck painting almost done:

I painted PE deck by mixture of white with surfacer 1000. Surfacer was intended to get rough surface:








Then school stuff came to work




they did a job like this









I make a kind of "preshading" with dark and medium brown









and finally very thin layer of deck color











then wash - and here's a deck











I like it �
I going to apply foggy layer of mat warnich and use some filters

yes... Surface is being used to get quite opposite results

But I wanted rough surface .... otherwise pencils would not get grip. And I came up with idea of using airbrush from further distance than usual to get it dry before seated. Seems worked for me

I rebuilded funnels
orignal from Fujimi:





I changed a steam pipes arragements and added rails










Steam pipes are made from brass pipe 0,3mm. For this time I made a attempt to simulate joints of pipe's segments

Stern superstructure at the table:

stern navigation platform



windowed....




3,5m rangefinders rebuilded








Fujimi made quite nice and sharp hull but stern superstructure is very bad. Main body needs a lot of putty to make it done in any shape. Placing rangefinders on platform gives you 2 options: parallel rangefinders and chinks or no chinks and twisted RF. Attempt to level the platform - you might lose shape of surrounded supports ...
