USS Growler SSG-577
The latest project for Blue Ridge, been working my way through this one since October. She's still not complete as I have to finish detailing the hangers, Then arrange the parts for RP. As usual, details are simplified and scaled for RP at 1/350th scale.

Amazing work, Fritz. I believe I saw this submarine and missile when I visited the Intrepid museum in NYC some years ago. Michael

Thanks Micheal!
Yes, this is the one at the Intrepid museum. With the release of a 1/350 Intrepid by Gallery models, Brandon and I have already discussed me digging out some old shuttle plans, for a 1/350 Enterprise. Then anyone ambitious enough, could model the whole Museum itself.

Almost done detailing the hangers. Just some overhead lights and electrical boxes to add. Can't wait to get this one off my back.

Would you believe this very idea came up over on the CollectSpace message board when the Gallery kit was announced? I believe a 1:350 OV-101 would make some folks very happy indeed.Fritz wrote:With the release of a 1/350 Intrepid by Gallery models, Brandon and I have already discussed me digging out some old shuttle plans, for a 1/350 Enterprise. Really nice work on the Growler CAD. Didn't get aboard when I was there in June (traveling companion had an issue with really confined spaces), but it gives me a reason to go back, and the kit's going to tempt something fierce when it's available.

Very impressive! What software are you using for your modeling?

Thanks Jodie and Adam!
Adam: I'm using KeyCreator by Kubotek. I think we're on version 12 at this point.
The hanger details are done as far as I can take them without being unreasonable, un-manufacturable, or un-buildable. With any luck, the kit should be ready to show up under a few Christmas trees.

Possibly.. I presume there are only so many ways to stuff an aircraft into a tube.mrwawa wrote:just wondering... Is USS Growler missile bay , technology comes from IJN carrier sub??
Although the Growler did have a fairly sophisticated arming, fueling, and guidance programming set-up in the hanger, that likely the Japanese were not using for their floatplanes.
