Here's what I've been working on the past few days.

It's almost finished, still some more railings and details to add.

I've been working on the bow details and I'm pretty sure I can call it done now!

Most of the small details were scratched from various styrene bits. The kits reels were pretty terrible and
no PE replacements were in the WEM set so I just covered the smaller ones with tarps made from foil
and the bigger one got some brass wire around it to represent ropes. Also gave some pigments weathering
to represent accumulated dirt on all the edges but kept it pretty light.

And a couple of wider shots of the whole project.

I've started to work on the main superstructure. Here's the work of the first day. Still some more to add but it's taking shape for sure!
Basicly every detail was filed and sanded away then replaced with PE and styrene.

Here's the basic assembly completed with all the modifications. All seams have been dealt with it aswell (hopefully).

The port side wasn't wide enough to meet the decks edge so styrene to the rescue!

Image

Started to detail the undersides aswell.

My detailing progress has been halted on the main superstructure due to styrene shortage!
I've restocked and hopefully work will continue soon.

In the meanwhile I've worked on the deck details on the stern.

The accomodation ladders were provided by the WEM PE set but not the mounts so I scratchbuild them.

Here's the mostly finished deck details!

Glad you like it! :thumbs_up_1:

Here's the main superstructure straight out of the paint booth. The mast and the boat deck are mostly finished for contrast.
That thing ate so much primer I can't belive it but it turned out pretty nice with just a couple of small imperfections at some places.

I also worked on the hull by gluing the helo superstructure to the deck. Like I mentioned earlier there was some warpage but I managed to get it on pretty nicely.
I used ZAP Thick CA to get it on. First I sanded all the main attachment points and made sure those places had some extra glue on them. Pressed in place for 30 seconds and voila.
After that I sprayed some vallejo varnish to hide the glue marks.

Koppalakki,

I am riveted to this build!!! :nod_2:

I like the details you did to the torpedo's, and the paint made it "pop." Also all the extra detail of the underside was well worth the time you took to add it in.

So here come my questions.

Did it really only take you one day to do all of the photo etch radar and antenna mast?

How will you hand the windows on the upper structure? Will they be treated the same as the lower structure?

Thanks,
Todd

Yes I kinda did finish the radar mast in one day! There's still somethings to add though but the etches themselves were pretty straightforward to build in my opinion.
I've also done this kit years ago with all the kirovs, moskvas, udaloys and sovremennys in 1/350 aswell so I have done the same etches couple of times before already so
I'm so to say familiar with them.

The windows are just gonna be painted with gloss black then krystal klear on top of that. I think it's a decent solution and I've done it to pretty much all my ships before.

I glued the main superstructure to the hull aswell!

I just ran a bead of CA over the seam and gave it some light sanding. In fear of damaging the ship and the paint job too much I didn't dare to make it a proper seamless fit.
Not really ideal considering I've dealt with most of the seams up untill now but. After that I gave a light spray of the main colors and then weathered it to match the rest of the hull.

And now it's just details details and some details. :thumbs_up_1:

Thanks for the comments guys!

My time for now is spent just staring at the same photos over and over again always finding some small detail to add.

Here's some pics of the mostly finished stern area.
