Hull skinning

I have heard rumors of a technique for making hull skins from sheet plastic.

Apparently it involves warming the plastic gently so it is more compliant to fit over frames and stringers.
(No, this is not vacuforming skins...).

RhinoCAD will make "flat" patterns from compound-curved surface meshes, so this seems like something to attempt (for a large scale cruiser).

Supposedly this is on a web-site somewhere. Any clues?

I have also built my 1/200 scale USS nimitz with wooden frames covered by 1 mm (0,40'') styrene sheets.
As Wes did, i did not curve the styrene sheets. i used smaller plates to cover the curved areas.
