Same way of epoxy, but again I wanted to use the original rudders.

I cut away the plastic shaft and machined the shafts new. Here I made an insert part for the rudder of half the � dia of the plastic itself about 1cm long and superglued it in.

I used the Bismarck angle for the rudders (forgot the side) and made a brass plate and soldered the brass pipes onto it.

I follow your work with great interest!

Let me make a remark about your brass holder for propeller's shafts. The orange framed part is just a safety cap for the shaft tip! They need in the caps only for launching -to prevent shafts damage and corrozion.

Noted, thanks for answering. I have looked at you post about a hundred times too, very impressive. at one stage
I have set the now arrived propeller for the Bismarck on it it still looks ok, would you suggest cutting them back again.
See the reason going into this forum is exactly that, now they are mounted and it is a bit to late to change, I was wondering sometimes about but I never got a clear side shot of the propeller mounted with shaft in full view.

Now ripping them out is not more an option but I will file them down a bit, because I just got the real 1:200 propeller and fair enough they are very short distance behind the blades. There isn't a lot of room for much cut back either.

WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST? let it be, or cut and send, because there is now not much room going to far back too!?

But here we go, it is not a show model, rather my own and I guess in the end we all have to live with some rather small sacrifice of learning by doing! It still does not look to bad.
BTW I just pin glued the propeller because the thread of the shaft is not the same, have to work out what it is!!

I personally would leave it, unless you are prepared to remove the shafts completely and re-position them at a steeper angle to the hull as in the photo of Mickosh3's post. The boss on the support frame could be cut back and this would then give more clearance for the props to be moved back.

...Everyone decides himself. As for me, I am afraid of a half-drunk snob with his "M-mm..No, I don't agree.." It was a reason of my work with rudders and propellers (the view of my solution- before modernization -you can see on the attached photo).
And an additional remark: the Bismarck's left and central propellers were "left rotation" (c.c.w), the right one- "right rotation" (c.w.), Your both ones-c.c.w....... (Or I'm wrong?)

Hi, thank you both for the comments, I will let the shafts as they are. On the pictures you have seen the rotation was like that, I got now the right rotation propeller, Anatoly. Btw your build is very nice, hope to get there in the end too.

I got a question, I got the G-Factor propeller do you have the thread diameter is it metric or imperial?

As previously mentioned, I tried to build the bull eyes and steps on my own, then I did find the PE parts. I skip the old try and come to the new installments.

As we all know, cut the PE parts and sand them smooth, I used a toothpick to hold them. The toothpick i colored black to better see the part.
To apply them I used a drops of white glue that I thinned with water and blow after drying another drop from the inside out with a syringe. I discovered after where the glue has build up a film that it looked like glass.
I will try this after I paint the hull again to make it look like actual glass at the bull eye.

Always nice to have more projects! I don't know if it is available to you but Testors makes a clear glue which is specifically for clear plastic and making windows., even ones as large as 1:200 Iowa bridge windows. A dab on the end of a toothpick is great for portholes.

Starting this time is the detailed build of the water intakes. I have made my own carving tools for this job as you can see in the Name Card Box. The picture to follow how I proceed.

As told before, I had problems with the filler therefore I choose to dry sand the hull.
The worse part is slipping off and take to much away, sometimes the patients is not there.
However we will fix that later.

After cutting i apply white glue, and wash the ribs with clear water. After drying then cut over standings and sand it over.

I have made some pictures of how I cut into the space of the intakes. Taking out the sides then the center, smooth it out and place the sieve.

One of the grills vent flying, never to return! i went crawling on the floor for hours, had a flashlight, cleaned the table, but nothing.
From there on only cut one part , before the next. You can see how I cut this, a really dedicated action you slip once and the hull gets a cut.

Slow is the process, but hopefully its worse while in the end. I have tried to be as carful as possible, but still slip.

Here the last pictures of the docking keel section, also some pictures of my cave I am working in.

I could also send some picture of the leaders that i tried to produce myself as such the bull eyes, before I did find the photo etch parts in my whole collection. (stupid really) So much work for nothing but experience!! So worse while anyhow to get more skills.
