I have only one comment on this news ...

What the hack shall this please? Ok, as good and interesting it is for all these who make 1/200 kits and have space for these monsters to store ... I WANT TO HAVE A NELSON KIT IN 1/350 AND THAT'S WHAT NOT ONLY ME IS ASKING FOR SINCE YEARS, BUT MANY OTHERS TOO!

Totally agree. With a collection of around 40 1/350 scale warships I like to maintain uniformity with scale. I have no use for or desire to ever touch a 1/200 scale model ship after putting so much work and effort into my collection.

I would love a 1/350 scale Nelson/Rodney ship. It would complement the Bismarck, Hood, Prinz Eugen, King George V, Prince of Wales all of which can be made to the timeframe with existing clips and a bit of modifications to the kit.

Adding to my list of 1/350 desires I would love the following:

HMS Ark Royal - Bismarck era.
HMS Rodney
USS Long Beach
WWII era modernised Leander class cruiser for HMAS Perth, Sydney

Take a closer look of what all is existing in 1/700 and what all in 1/350. I will not deny that this or that ship is missing in 1/700 but existing in 1/350 ... but these are few ships only. Reversed, the list of what is missing in 1/350 but missing in 1/700 is a 2 or 3 pages long!
I as 1/350 builder must only make a list of all US ships of WW-2 or alternatively of German ships of WW-1 in 1/700 and then compare with what of them is existing in 1/350 too ... and must cry and shout!
And then came now the crown on all of it: Nelson in 1/200 but not in 1/350 ... a ship existing since long in 1/700 from 2 companies!

Since when do we have 1/200 ships in stock (nightmare Yamato from 30 years ago taken aside) and since when do we have 1/350 (and 1/700)?

Sure I know that a 1/700 ship is easier to construct for manufactures as in 1/350 ... but for sure 1/350 is easier to make as 1/200, eh?
However, I will for sure say nothing against any scale or so ... but it is annoying that Trumpeter makes Nelson in 1/200 only or for the first, a ship which is in all votings on top of wishes from 1/350 community since years ... maybe a decade or more!

What is the top voted ship of most wanted to have as kit in 1/700 Maxim? I have no idea, but think a moment about if this ship is now 1/200 only or for the first released!

I'd rather they do 1/200 first and then the smaller scale - once you have made the details required for 1/200, you have enough details for 1/350 and probably too much for 1/700. Conversely, if they did a smaller scale first, they'd need to spend more time putting the details required for 1/200.

@ Christian: You had complained that first a Rodney is released in 1/200 and not in 1/350. But there are much more 1/350 kits available than 1/200 kits. Therefore the 1/200 modeller could not really understand why you complain even though for you are much more kits available.

I also do not understand why there is e.g. no 1/700 of a Udaloy II (Admiral Chabanenko) - Trumpeter released it only in 1/350. Therefore I had written "Funny! Now the 1/350 modellers have the feeling we 1/700 modellers had when 1/350 was getting more popular"...

It would be nice, if the research they did for one kit, they would in general use also to release the kits in the other popular scales. Sometimes Trumpeter/HobbyBoss/Meng did that, sometimes not. I have found no understandable pattern for their decisions...

It has taken years out of my life building my collection and I always enjoy building more. My scale is 1/350 due to the size and detail offered. Sadly I feel like with 1/350 we have come to the end of the road and they will not be releasing anymore despite that long and illusive ships that everyone wants.

I know there was a 1/350 scale model ship of the Nelson/Rodney made but it is very expensive and I believe it was Iron shipwrights or something like that who produced it.

With WEM out of business there is a huge hole in the modelling world.

Even Ocean Liners. I have my Titanic in 1/350 scale. I also have the Lusitania in same scale. It would be great to have the Cunard Queens that served in WWII made into models.

Aaah yes - now you know how we 1/700 modellers feel about the shift of emphasis to 1/350. I'm still waiting for Hasegawa to release a 1/700 Gambier Bay

Well, I thought to reply or not, but I think I shall at least. In all peace, let�s take only molded plastic � any resin bricks away � and let�s take closer look on 1/700 at Trumpeter to understand what I mean:

1/700 USS Maryland � in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No
1/700 HMS Barham � in 1/350? No - alternately from someone else? No
1/700 USS Pittsburgh � in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No
1/700 HMS Renown (2 kits!) � in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No
1/700 USS New Orleans - in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No
1/700 USS Baltimore - in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No
1/700 USS Minneapolis - in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No
1/700 USS Tuscaloosa - in 1/350? No � alternately from someone else? No

When I restarted modelling and changed form 1/35 tanks etc. totally to 1/350 ships (1/700 is too small for me), I wanted to specialize on 1 or 2 themes and not to build crisscross.
My main interest is Royal Navy so far, but I�m very interested in US Navy too ... particulalry dreadnoughts and cruisers. This small list above is part of my bigger wish list to have in 1/350 as molded plastic kit.
