I've waited 3 months this time.
Any sharable updates?
Or is everything still pretty secretly in development?

Re: 1/700 USS Texas Plastic Kit from Blue Ridge Models
We had all of the 3D designs at IPMS Nationals that we were showing off.... however we still don't have anything to share online yet. We are almost ready to however... we are hopefully going to make the "official" announcements at Telford this year. We are headed to England at the beginning of November so... hopefully everything will go as planned with this project!

Did you guys make it to Telford?
Holidays have had me pretty busy and trying to catch up on news/etc. on the model scene.

These things take time. Especially for smaller design/manufacturing operations.Caesar Ho wrote:one year was passed still not release! be quick! trumpy may release her in 1/700!

Re: 1/700 USS Texas Plastic Kit from Blue Ridge Models
How goes the project? I'm assuming that most of that stuff got put on hold during construction of the new building?
Can't wait till you guys are all settled in over there. I'm sure it's going to be epic.

Re: 1/700 USS Texas Plastic Kit from Blue Ridge Models
We are disappointed that we don't have better news about the Texas / New York kit. However, I will be as completely honest with you as I can without pointing too many fingers.... however, before reading the next paragraph, please know we have not given up completely, but, it is "on hold" for now.
We had the kit designed, had everything planned out, and approached the factory about the project. The factory chosen was the same factory that Midship Models used years ago for their plastic destroyers. Because we now own Midship Models, and those molds (that are still at the factory) we thought it was a good idea. However, after the factory agreed to do our project for us and requested our files, they released their new catalog a couple of weeks later, the 1/350 Texas and New York showed up in catalog. You can imagine what we thought. Thankfully, even though requested we never sent them our design files.
The only other factories that we have approached could not reproduce the accuracy and quality of the our design. We are not willing to sacrifice quality or accuracy just to get the kit to market, so, we are still looking for a way to have this kit molded for plastic production.
I have attached several renders for you to see our design.

I really like the taper at the top of those hull bulges! Far too many have gotten those completely wrong!

And they expected that not to be noticed, maybe? Both greedy and stupid, seems like.FreeTimeHobbies wrote:However, after the factory agreed to do our project for us and requested our files, they released their new catalog a couple of weeks later, the 1/350 Texas and New York showed up in catalog. Good luck with the project; I'd certainly like to have these two in my lifetime, and at 65 I don't say that lightly

Re: 1/700 USS Texas Plastic Kit from Blue Ridge Models
Having just read what's here: http://www.blueridgemodel.com/, I have to conclude that there'll be no Blue Ridge 1/700th Texas or New York in our futures after all.
A shame, really. But if the money's in products like Wolverine, so be it.

Re: 1/700 USS Texas Plastic Kit from Blue Ridge Models
Can anyone tell me some details of this kit?
A. Is it post launch as originally built w/ "basket weave lookout-ranging towers, and her case mate guns.
B. Is it a post retrofit/modernized version as she sits today? ( as she looked in WW2).
