Timmy the new molded/snap fit IJN Yamato from Fujimi is out in 1/700, also a IJN Musashi in the same manner is planned for a summer release.

Are they meant to be easier to assemble? do they sacrafice quality for ease of construction?

They quality will be Fujimi's 1/700 standards. That means the best in 1/700 someone can offer.

HLJ is releasing in its future section April eta 1/700 Arpeggio of blue steel IJN Yura by Aoshima . Its kind of very strange because it is camouflaged in pink from its picture. You have to see it for yourself! Also, Natori is being released by same company.

I'd seen that too but couldn't quite bring myself to post it here
I suppose it could be built as the historical Yura rather than the fantasy Yura. For that matter, it shouldn't be too hard to take one or two of the Tamiya kits of the Nagara class and build a Yura; although that ship was never released as such.

It's essentially the Tamiya kits re-packaged, so unless you are really after the vinyl pattern decals, you might as well buy a regular one at half the price.

Arpeggio of blue steel is a manga and now recently animated show about humans fighting back against alien machines adopting ww2 era ship forms (and typical anime girl forms). The decal depicts the glowing patterns on those alien ship's hull as per design so no nods to historical accuracy applies.

Interesting that the 5770 kit number follows the 700 scale 1941 Maryland and is a typical 700 scale kit number. Also the 1941 Maryland (5769) sprues have the twin 5" mounts. Could Trumpeter have mis-labeled a 700 scale kit as 350 scale on their web site? Also, has anyone else noticed that the 1941 California (5783) is no longer listed by Stevens?
