Frankly, I think she seems to be coming together quite nicely. Don't be so hard on yourself.

The mess left behind by the tie down rods is one thing. I am not happy with the Tamiya paints. I am so used to Valejo and Life Color and am having a hard time working with these. It is also the aspect of every flaw you are painfully aware of..... But I will persevere:)

Funny, I love Tamiya paints. I guess it's what one's used to.
Sounds like the surface needs to sound down, I'm guessing. I do that all the time to clean up my "mistakes". Martin's right, persevere.

Back from vacation. A lot of work has gone into trying to finish the funnels. Here is one small snapshot of what I have done so far. More to come. Comments are always appreciated.

Thanks guys. I went to attach the first funnel and most of the PE rails popped off. So I finished attaching the funnel and now I am redoing all the PE. My goal is to get all three done this weekend with no more set backs.

99 hours and much frustration later!!!!!!
Here is the updates. I have attached all three funnels. The PE on top is complete. That took several hours to do and accounts for most of the time spent previous to the last photo. All PE on the first funnel is done.
Here is a blown up section of the second funnel. The Flyhawk PE messed something up in the instructions I think. The area circled in yellow (I am not sure if that is a set of vent tubes or something else) runs right over the red line area which is where I am supposed to be attaching a rail per the Flyhawk instructions. But it will not sit on top of it. If anyone has any insight as to if there was even a hand rail on that line or not I would appreciate it. If so I think I will have to make some "Kustom with a K" modifications to the PE. Below that is a picture of the Flyhawk instructions. The one in question is "Funnel B".

It may be Aoshima that has erred, not FlyHawk. Not sure what that shielding is for, or even why it's there. I'll check my references.

Re: IJN Nagara
No luck on the references. It's impossible to say whether Aoshima covered this detail correctly and FlyHawk missed/ignored it, or that FlyHawk feels that Aoshima provided an extraneous, phantom, detail. Your choice.

Thanks Dan. I will likely use the plastic piece and simply cut the railing to fit. But I will look through other photos of the class to double-check.

Here is the corrected funnel piece done as best as my skill will handle. The middle funnel is the one in question. The handrail that is second from the bottom runs right over where I had to patch the locator piece for the part that should not have been included. This was done with the funnel already attached, so it made it substantially harder for me.

AND.....I finally got all the PE on the funnels. They are done (except for the funnel stays that will come a lot later).

After the funnels, I tacked the walkway that connects the main deck areas above the fore torpedo tubes. I have the walkway and the four ladders attached.

The structures that are aft the last funnel are installed. The three main batteries as well as the catapult are installed as well.
Time to finish the main mast....I am dreading this almost as much as I am the bridge area.....
