light AA weaps

Post by mister me »

Hi all !

just a question about light aa gun color :

were breeches and barrels of light AA gun painted or left natural metal ? (shall I paint them black or camo color or gun metal ?)

oerlikons ?
pompoms ?
IJN 25mm ?
DKM 20mm ?
italian navy 20mm ?

I know bofors 40mm were painted camo color, and italian 37mm were black.
but others ? in old black/white photos, it's hard to tell if painted black or left "gun metal".

USN should be gun metal. Those barrels heated up very quickly and would burn off the paint; if the Navy was going to try and upkeep that, they would have gone with camouflage and not black.
