Hi all,
I am working on the old Dragon CV-16. I have a number of aircraft that I am going to put in the hangar as well as on the deck. They are mostly clear (the dragon ones as well as some trumpy ones). I do have some old Hasegawa solid color ones too.
The question is what method do you use to paint the clear ones? Do you try and keep the 'clear' canopies? If so can you mask them effectively. Was thinking when I primer it that the cockpits would look 'wrong' (grey or white).
Any tips greatly appreciated.

A small drop of masking fluid usually helps protect the clear parts. After the paint is dry to the touch you can take the fluid off by running a sharp modelling knife along the edges and pulling the fluid off with tweezers. If you do not use the knife first the fluid will take your beautiful newly applied camo scheme with it. Been there, done that -:)
