Pilothouse Portholes

Post by biff4204 »

I have found that on the few 1/700 resin kits Ive built that the face of the pilothouse is smooth without any indication of portholes. Ive unsuccessfully tried using a very fine paint brush or a very fine marking pen to indicate these portholes. The solution Ive come up with is decals. The periods in the font of New Times Roman 20 seem to work well. I printed these on clear decal paper and then applied them to the pilothouse. I was able to successfully align and space the portholes as can be seen in the attached photo of a 1/700 Tacoma class frigate.

That's a neat trick. I bet you could add a little more detail with it, too - say, the rain drip channels above the portholes?
