Also the roof of the bridge is different in equipment. 2 seems to have some more smaller can-like radomes. Also the navigation radar support and whatever is behind it stuck to the front of the main mast base is different in shape.
Also 4 has gained some sort of box in front of the superstructure on main deck laying in transverse direction, not sure if it's part of some module.

Hi,
The link bellow from RIMPAC 2014, shows the USS Independence LCS-2 with the 30mm Bushmaster Gun as well as what appear to be a small platform with 2x SBROC.
This platform with the SBROC's does not seem to exist on USS Coronado LCS-4

Thanks.

Video of LCS 4 launching the Norwegian Naval Strike Missile. For our purposes, it contains a few interesting shots of the elusive helicopter hangar at 0:13-0:17 and at 1:32:

1/350, for Trumpeter and Bronco kits. I can make it bigger if you need, 1/96 1/196 whatever you need. For 1/700 I have to test it, maybe it would be too small

This video of LCS-3, the USS Fort Worth, is worthwhile for hanger interior details, wake patterns, etc.: http://www.military.com/video/logistics ... 0021143001/

Re: Calling All USS Independence LCS-2 Fans!
I toured the USS Coronado during San Francisco Fleet Week. I took lots of photos, but probably nothing as useful as this: a picture of the hull with some paint chips to find out the color of the weathered aluminum. I only brought a few paint chips because I didn't want to look suspicious - I've gotten tired of getting interviewed by Military Intelligence at airshows.
Looks like Floquil Concrete is a good match which is terrible news because they don't make that paint any more. Gull grey slightly warmed and darkened would be good as well. This was taken in a fairly pristine area of the ship - differently weathered areas are mostly lighter in shade than this.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much! This is very helpful.
Could you comment on the light conditions, when you made the photo? Sonny? Cloudy? Rainy?

LCS-2 flag hoist/radio call sign ?!?
Does anybody by any chance know USS Independence's complete flag hoist/radio call sign?
I've found one picture with the (supposed) call sign flown (http://www.navsource.org/archives/15/im ... 502046.jpg), and it reads ?-I-N-D. This would conform to USS Freedom's call sign, which according to navsource is N-F-R-E. However, I cannot make out the Independence's first letter - it's not N, that's for sure.
Any ideas?!?
Michi

Looks like the one in your photo was overlapping with another flag on the other side. Here's a sharp photo showing just N for the first flag: http://www.navy.mil/management/photodb/ ... 10-002.JPG

Re: Calling All USS Independence LCS-2 Fans!
I saw recently that the USS Coronado fired harpoon. I know that the launchers are forward, but does anyone know of a clear photo of the exact location?

Bow. Sometimes with the Navy you wait a day or so after a news event and then check out the photo galleries:

Thank you Tracy. Looks like they are mounted on the vls with extra material to provide blast protection, should be easy to update a model. Wonder if this will be a class mod.
