"U-96 Das Boot"

Post by Eric33 »

Hello everybody here.
I registered some time ago, but nearly didn't post at all, because still no ship projects, and knowing nearly nobody in the ship modelers community because quite new on the modelling scene.

So, now that I'm more involved in ship modelling, I thought it was more polite to first briefly present myself.

I'm Eric, a 51 years old french modeler, from the Bordeaux area, who came back to his old passion about 4 years ago, first more focused on 1/72 AFV dioramas, even if my first project was a 1/144 tiny diorama, "France 1940" (2012/last upgrade sept.2014). Thanks to my work as a Cabin crew for Air France, I regularly go to Japan and Hong-Kong, where there are some shops that are real paradises for modelers (especially in Osaka !). I also enjoy a lot international exhibitions and contests. I intend to go this year, for first time, to Moson, Euromilitaire, SMC, and Telford. And again to Shizuoka.

For some years, after I discovered the wonderful ship dioramas of Kostas Katseas (I'm especially interested in dioramas), then the work of many other excellent modelers like Jim Bauman, Marijn Van Gils, Werner De Kersmaecker, Fran Romero, Alain Boivin, Hyun Soo Kim, Jeff Lin, and many others that I cannot mention all here, I decided to make ship dioramas. Even if this first ship project (2014 - upgraded in 2015) is actually a stand-alone...
I'm right now working on a new 1/700 diorama project, called "End of a Greywolf" (next post to come)

The Model :
AFV Club 1/350 + Resin/PE set from Voyager Model + converted figures from Preiser
U-Boot Type VIIC
U.96 of the 7. U.Flotille (Saint-Nazaire, Summer 1941, Kapitnleutnant Heinrich Lehmann-Willenbrock)

I hope you like it. Any commentaries and critics are welcomed.
I post especially to improve myself through the critics of the other modelers, and I'm not at all touchy !... :-)
Thank you !
