Need recomendations for attack transports

First off, is Norman Friedman's book worth the nearly $200 Oop price? I have the battleship and cruiser books, but it seems I recall the drawings were pretty small in this one. I need books that are fairly good on photos and drawings of attack transport and attack cargo recommendations. Thanks

I was thinking about that book also when I was researching building some AK/AKA AP/APA. I went the cheap route and went with Navsource and
Shipscribe and Tom Coltons Shipbuilding history site to denote the different variations (C2sb1 C2aj1, C2 blah blah blah& C3's also)
and went with the photos from Navsource and Shipscribe sites.
Yes, this took alot of time but I learned many things.
There is a lot of variation between the yards that built these (C2 & C3, P2 Victories) and the timeframe they were commissioned.
Different engines, booms, lcvp layout. Till the Tolland and Gilliam even some victories appeared, most of the '42 & '43 commissioned ships did not have an
"true" overhaul till late in the war and still sported 1.1 AA guns into '45, they were friggin workhorses.

And these sites dont even cover the WSA ( War shippng Admin.) ships put into service as troop carriers or transports.

Friedman does have some good books, I have his DD and CV, but to drill down to a specific ship you'll have to research each one individually
as they made overhauls as they be came available. The longer we extended our reach across the Pacific the more these ships were in need.
