Calling all Independence-class (CVL-22) fans
I am building two 1/350 CVL's and the first finally looked like a ship for the first time tonight. The second will be in dazzle and will take a little longer to get to this point.

Answering questions, 1/350 scratch. Thanks for the offer of plans and ref's but have too much of both, for example do not have a clue as to how to do the bracing under the stacks and on the island tower - makes you appreciate PE!
A view from 700 feet (camera 2 feet above the concrete sea). I put the Yorktown in the picture again because the CVL's just keep impressing me as SMALL. It was a hazy morning in AZ and the picture quality is really hurt by the absence of direst sunlight.

Excellent work Jim.
I'm thinking about building the USS Wright CVL-49 but after she was converted into a command ship (CC-2) as shown here: http://www.navsource.org/archives/02/024907.jpg
Makes for an interesting twist on the carrier models...

Just a FYI, we updated the Shipcamouflage.com CVL page with links to the camouflage measures and design sheets.

Finally done, plenty of errors, mistakes and heresies but it was fun. I did have to finish before DML comes out with the plastic version.
