Hmm, I meant to write Kenyo Maru, not Kokuyo Maru, in the previous post.

Kyokuto Maru�s bridge is now completed to the same degree as Kenyo Maru. I added the extra long accommodation ladders (from the GMM extra ladder set) that were placed on the bridge to both ships, and their davits as well. Plenty of mis-steps along the way, which is why so much time has passed since the last post. I even managed to remove and re-position the searchlight on Kyokuto Maru, as it had too much forward tilt to it.

While there are still some details to be added to the bridges, particularly in the open cockpit atop the bridge, nothing else can really be done until they are glued in place. Both bridges still have some Tamiya tape down on the deck within the confines of the open cockpit, to facilitate handling.

I also began the tiresome task of replacing the overscale railings at the stern, and under the boat deck, which meant ripping out the old railings and posts and replacing them; the posts, one by one. What a P-I-T-A. You can see the difference in sizing between the upper and lower railings to the right.

I also lost a top to one of the ventilators, and some railings and bracing under the funnel platform.

A quick update: All railings are now attached for Kenyo Maru. The next step is deck masking, and then hull painting. Here's to hoping that I can accomplish all that without crushing yet another thing.

Jeez, another month passed? Kenyo Maru prepped & main coat paint. Naturally, no stage can pass without my destroying one item, necessitating a replacement fabrication.

01 level bridge supports in place & painted. It turns out that not all bridge posts were sized the same.

The light for photography was less than great this day. It's hard to make out the color differentiation between the decks and and the sides.

I'm shifting back to Kyokuto Maru to bring her up to the same level of construction. Let's see how long that takes.
