I believe the rigging is incorrect. The rule of thumb with this ship is that the Kure model is the only correct depiction. The rigging here does not match the Kure model.

The Kure Example has changed over the years.

The model photograph shown above is from a different era then the Kure example. It's that simple.

A fellow posted the below quoted comment under the video showing how Yamato's main guns operated that I have put up on my youtube Yamato channel (linked on my webpage which is linked below my sig). Anyhow I found it fascinating and am posting it here for any comments:

"+Phillip Mulligan: What I also find interesting is that the rangefinders (both the turret and superstructure finders) on Yamato were made by Nippon Kogaku, the company that is now Nikon. These viewfinders were of excellent quality (equal or maybe even better than the Zeiss finders on German ships) and Nikon used this technological knowledge when they started making their first rangefinder cameras, the S models.?"

The same fellow (Phillip Mulligan) also made the following comment whcih I also pass along for your comments:

"I really enjoyed watching and studying this. Not sure if he had access to actual battleship blueprints of the Yamato but the technical accuracy is spot on. Despite the language barrier I was able to understand 90% of this. The thing that really stood out in this video is the propellent loaded off the skip went straight into a flash suppression shielding tube before rammed into the breach of the gun. This is an unseen safety feature that American battleships did not have. I like how the range finder could yaw side to side up to 5 degrees inside the top rear of the gun. I am sure a lot of research went into this."

not sure if it was ever mentioned earlier but it seems that the 1/10 Kure model has undergone some
updates as well. The round 25mm gun tubs on the deck has been replaced with the octagonal shaped enclosures.
Anyone else spot any new changes?

I got the Advanced Detail Up set for Yamato at Luckymodel couple of months ago. In hindsight I better bought it on a European site because Belgian customs charged me heavily to import it.
The set itself is great (I started building my Yamato a month ago) with great details. Personally I think the instructions can be better, but I guess that's a matter of taste. And there were some issues with the main gun barrels (the were drilled out off center) and some parts were lacking. Replacement parts are being arranged but it seems to take a very long time.
