wow... VERY nice! the detail work is incredibly clean!

The hose reels, is that coiled copper wire? I have to try that.

I am still conviced that you have a giant match for your pictures. :big_grin: :big_grin: :big_grin:

Yes it is 0,1mm copper wire, coiled around plastic rod. It is easier than it looks. The tricks is to:
- take a long piece of plastic rod;
- glue one end of the copper wire to it so it stays put;
- coil the copper wire over enough distance to do all the hose reels you need to do (a couple of centimeters?), plus some extra to allow for mistakes;
- apply some thin CA glue to one side of the coiled copper wire to fix it in place;
- then slice of the correct lengths of coiled wire with a fresh sharp scalpel blade;
- glue it in the PE hose reel part. Usually I do that after gluing the P part to the deck, so I don't have to handle the small PE part, and can see better that everything looks square in the final position.

Cheers,

Marijn

Many thanks guys!

Meanwhile, I slowly move forward while detailing. A fun part I just finished was the battle damage along the rear elevator.
More railings need adding later.

I used some parts from the Lionroar PE set for the Unryu I'm using, and one part from Bruno's custom set (the star-shaped centre part of the 5' gun mount), generic PE perforated beams and gussets, but also quite some brass and plastic sheet, stretched sprue and brass rod and wire to cobble together the details.

And of course with my giant match :) :

Thanks James! The small scale sometimes necessitates little compromises, but I'm doing my best on this one. And I'm having a lot of fun with it!

My god that is beautiful work.

And seeing the photos of the real ship makes me want to cry at the tragedy of that.

It is a very conflicted feeling:

That such beautiful and powerful ships were built.... Yet their purpose was to kill others, and that the war for which they were built took so many lives, and caused so much suffering.

This diorama is a powerful statement to that tragedy, and waste.
