Timmy C,

Perhaps you should update the Trumpeter 1/700 section of the first page of this thread, since one can readily see the new Hasegawa 1/700 Japanese battleship Mikasa on Ebay.

Furthermore, I've seen Trumpeter's battleship HMS Queen Elizabeth 1941 in at least 2 model stores locally in Vancouver, so you can mark it down as "released" rather than "ETA 2016" as it is currently marked.
"Haijun" means "navy" in Mandarin Chinese.

Hello all

Not sure if this has been answered already...the "new" 1/700 Italerie Essex is actually the Trumpeter kit! I have it here, got it real cheap, and it's marked "made ich China" on the bags. Only difference is that the lower hull is gray like the rest of the kit and the airwing is blueish...not transperent! I like that a lot. Decals are custom Italerie ones in gloss. I bought mine for under 15EUR...good value I think.

Is that a seemingly quite accurate early war Lexington with 8" guns and wide flight deck? Ooh!

What do we know about Meng's quality? The kit looks set up for snap-together but otherwise good. Who distributes these in Europe?

Finally someone is doing some other IJN CVs in 1/350 besides the Kido Butai! :woo_hoo:

Do we know the configuration of the kit? If the picture is to be believed is is after the Aleutian operations.

1/700th Hermes/Richelieu/Suma?

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10410754

What the heck is this combination about? :eyes_spinning:

EDIT: I know the Hermes/Richelieu connection (Dakar), but what does Suma ex-HMS Moth have to do with anything?
Nice little ship to have, mind.

Might be just to give incentive for Japanese modelers to get something they otherwise have few reasons for.

I'm guessing its a PE set meant to convert a Monochrome/Trumpeter 1942 or 1944 Akizuki to the opposite configuration.

Hobby Search seems to suggest it's a kit from Wave: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10411315

Options in the box for both fits.

It looks like Aoshima are replacing their questionable Illustrious class carrier with a new tooling with new airgroup and separate PE set.
Currently planning CVA-01 scratchbuild in 1/700
Also planning RN projects 363, 381, 382, 387, Type 82(as designed), Type 43.

Possibly, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the Trumpy/Mono kit with both versions in one box. Wave's 1/200 Mikasa is, I think, made by Trumpy.

Tedious. They have sold their abominations of Illustrious and Victorious for decades. As soon as Flyhawk announce a new Illustrious Aoshima rush out a new version.

As can be seen from their competing Hermes I will be going with Flyhawk.

Would that be a bad thing? As much as I love IJN subjects in 1/350 I must confess to not having the highest knowledge in the land about them. Was the Trumpy/Monochrome Akizuki a bad kit? Cause if so, I'll just stick with the Monochrome kits I already have. On the other hand, if it was a good kit then I believe it would be a good deal because it appears to be not much more than the first release and all the bits in one box. (not sure of the differences between the three kits, haven't looked at them in a while)

But it's a new kit, might have to get another couple.

Also, either way this kit is 10 bucks cheaper on HLJ. Amiami hasn't listed it yet but would be cheaper than HLJ usually.
