I already sended a mail to Flyhawk, but no answer yet.
Why we have a different set is because you have it for the Tamiya kit and I for the Fujimi.
And the parts looks indeed different so I hope that at least you the part a twice.

Not really quite sure if this has been discussed but here goes...
Does anybody has any information concerning shell plating (size, placement, rivetting) for the Shokaku-class?.. Or knows were to find?
I know that reference about this subject is scarce (not to say rare or nonexistent) not only for this class, but for all IJN ships.
The US Technical Mission to Japan reports are the only thing that I know of but they offer little help and other than the conjectural 3D CG drawings on Futabasha�s IJN CV Shokaku, I have no more info for the class.
The "Anatomy of the Ship" on Takao has some drawings concerning this issue but I don�t know if I can assume that this class had a similar arrangement.
So... a long shot, I know... but anyone has more info on this subject?

Hello guys,
what is your opinion on Flyhawk's PE deck for Fujimi's Zuikaku? Honestly, an idea of a huge chunk of fragile PE spreading all across my carrier feels like one hell of a challenge, but those etched supports on Christian's kit look amazing...

And just to make sure- Flyhawk's Zuikaku deck does suit early Shokaku as well, doesn't it?

The Flyhawk PE carrier decks are not fragile (you're not likely to break a corner off), though they are flexible (so they'll only lie as flat as what you mount them on).

The look of the deck is great so perhaps the extra work its worth of using it.
And yes you can use it on an early Shokaku or Zuikaku.

Besides the missing strut I have to mention the supplied plastic distance part don't glue with normal plastic glue.
So there it is perhaps better to use normal plastic sheet. That is one lesson I learned.
And I sprayed the pe deck with MR Metall Primer first. I hope with that I don't have the problem with scraped off paint.

I believe the supplied plastic insert is resin and requires CA glue. The flight deck gets glued to the insert, the insert fits within the perimeter of the upper hangar deck opening.

The flight deck itself is pretty nice.

My Flyhawk Zuikaku deck came in three long thin packages. The middle package had the flight deck insert on the flip side from the PE under-deck piece that glues to the underside of the PE upper flight deck piece (which has the engraved detail on it). It has three openings in it where the elevators are and one opening where the forward crash barrier goes, but otherwise looks like a miniature white plastic flight deck though lacking any details. It's shorter than the real flight deck. It barely goes aft further than the third elevator opening.
(For reference, the top package had the upper (visible) PE flight deck piece with elevators and crash barrier and the third (bottom) package had three smaller PE frets. The middle package also had the instruction sheet.)

The insert without holes comes with the version for the Tamiya kit. I have that one.
