I would be extremely grateful for some assistance.
My employer and mentor served in the RNR on such Ton Class vessels. He is to reach 80 years young at the end of this year, and I would very much like to surprise him with some memorabilia relating to his service and, if I'm lucky enough to find one - a model of the ship(s) he captained. As it is a surprise, I'm afraid that's probably all the knowledge I can obtain at present without arousing suspicion. If you could assist, even if only to point me in the correct direction, I would be extremely grateful.
Kind regards, Mark

Re: RNR HM Ton Class models??!
Mark
There are few Ton Class kits that I'm aware of:
1/700 MT Miniatures which has just been reviewed on this very site. Their kits are a little bit rough but very cheap.

1/350 Atlantic Models. I have this kit and highly recommend it. There are some build threads on Britmodeller at the moment.

1/96 a nice big floaty model from Deans Marine.

Good luck with your project.

I have the Deans Marine HMS Bronington kit. Actually bought it last year, started it but I have put it to oneside to concentrate on others. It is a good model,I did have problems with the tiller arms for the rudders, but sorted it out okay.

I have just completed the Atlantic Models 1:350 scale kit and I would recommend it.
I have a build log on Britmodeller which may be of use as there are some differences between the ships in the class.

I hope this helps.

The nice thing about not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise rather than being preceded by a period of worry and depression.

Is this model still available? It looks quite good.

I have just ordered one of these kits. I served on one of these in the Royal Navy Reserve in the 70's

Your HMS Upton build has attracted my attention! You did a superb job on superdetailing the little kit from Peter Hall, and also converting it back into a minesweeper. I'll send you a private email as well.
