Calling all RM Littorio-class fans!

Does anyone know if Roma or any of her sisters ever visited Venice in 1942-43?

A quick search online on Roma's career seems to show she only went to La Spezia, Naples and Taranto.

The reason behind is because I'm mulling placing one of Littorios with 1942-43 camo, perhaps most probably my recently built Roma, in a diorama involving the Giudecca Canal/Venice canal set from Loose Cannon models.

The Battleship Roma in Venice, went twice during the construction works.
The first time in April 1941 to make Careening Dock in Venice in drydock in "Principessa of Piemonte" military Arsenal area (length 250 mt. width 37 mt.) and for the disassembly of the arm external propellers door left to be give to Vittorio Veneto, for replacement after the torpedoing of Cape Matapan.
And a second time for replacement of the new arm propellers external door left .in November. 1941

Since the visits you mentioned were in 1941, they probably won't work with my Roma model, which is in 1943 camo colours.

How about Littorio? Did she ever visit Venice?

Hey guys,

Quick question. So if I'm looking at this right, Littorio in March 1941 at some point didn't have deck stripes. The painting guide I have from RM is a little unclear to me:







So if I build Littorio, March 1941, I can do the bones/chevron scheme without deck strips looking at the above photo ?

I asked a similar question to you on pg.27 of this thread.

Back then, Giampero replied that the bow stripes were removed before the 2nd Battle of Sirte but repainted soon after.

(The 2nd Battle of Sirte happened in March 1942, not March 1941- Littorio was still undergoing repairs during early 1941 from damage sustained at Taranto in 1940)

Having re-read everything once again, the camo I'm considering is indeed March 1941, not the modified version from 1942. From what I can tell, in early March 1941 Littorio had the original bones/chevron schemes without bow stripes near as I can tell from the photos.

you can paint with no stripes but in the period after March 1941 had the bow strip, there is only an error in the first draft of the instructions March 1941 - March 1942, during the second battle of Sirte there was change of camouflage he had not bow strip
