im looking to get a wooden deck for my Fujimi 1:350 Fuso, but which is the best?
i found wooden decks by Fujimi, Voyager and Hunter.

i can find the Fujimi and Voyager decks for around same price, with Hunter being the cheapest, but other than that i cant find much info

You know, IJN Yamashiro is the less documented Imperial Japanese battleship at the moment, with very few information regarding the last 2 years of her active career(Post 1942). On the other hand early war and pre war documentation and photographs are plenty.

I have only use the Fujimi set for my 1/350 IJN Yamashiro(Im not a fan of 1/350 scale). No complains from it.

Wartime officer appointments for Yamashiro (command staff) are well-documented...I've got most of them, save for a few Secondary and Tertiary Gunnery Officers.

I didn't find any photos of this, and no other manufacturer depicts this in 1944 Fusos.

I checked my copy of AOTS Fuso and Skulksi does not have those parts sticking up in the air on any of the rangefinder drawings.

There are small rectangular structures that stick out the front that I would suspect are the optics, but they are way less prominent than whatever those are sticking up in the air on the model.

If I get a chance, I'll drag my Fuso out of the stash and take a look at the parts.

Hey guys, I don't mean to keep beating a dead horses about the whole Japanese navy order about the removing of linoleum. But I have a question about the linoleum on Fuso. now i know about the Japanese navy order about the removing of linoleum and all, but i remember seeing back in the day pics and people models of Fuso having linoleum floors in the bridge area and throughout the tower like I believe its Aoshimas old paint sheet for there 1/700 Fuso and like Jiff lin's awesome Yamashiro. But now I see alot of pics and new models like fujimis new 1/350 scale paint sheets having every thing on the bridge being all grey and no linoleum on the floors of the bridge. was it by 44 that all Battleships had the linoleum removed from there towers? Is this just due to new information on the ships? If so then why do we still see models being built with Kongo and Haruna built with linoleum on top of the bridge and throughout there towers or was it just a thing of there crews just removed the linoleum when they had time too.

From what I can tell from the few Maru Specials I have on Cruisers and DDs.... It looks like they still had their names, but they were painted over in grey.

The names were raised Hiragana in metal welded to the hull.

One of the IJN PE sets that I have even includes some Hiragana for the stern letters.

But I'll bet Dan K would know better.

About that Fuso rangefinder - I've come across nothing that looks like that. Frankly, after looking at that model photo, and various sets of instructions online, I'm pretty sure the part was molded incorrectly. Those extensions are hoods to protect the apertures for the rangefinder, and should be on the horizontal axis. That's a production blunder, for sure.

I also suspected an error : I saw this nowhere else, nor photos, nor other molds than 1/350 fujimi one...

and concerning linoleum outer decks/bridges on pagoda tower ? something ?

Linoleum on bridge tower - Something else I need to research. It was probably there, but as to which levels is open to question. Certainly the compass bridge deck level, for one. I want to look at the Gakken book, and AOTS again, tonite.

ouch ! a question again, concerning seaplane numerals in late 1944 :

fujimi gives 222-01 and 222-02.
however, I found on a table that it was BVI-x
which one is right ?

(I also will have this kind of problems concerning future projects : for example, Tamiya 1/350 Yamato gives 211-xx, my table gives 212-xx, and various aircraft models or aftermarket decals sets give sometimes 211 sometimes 212...)
