Anti 'Carpet Magnet' Idea

I came across a couple of pieces of white foam sheet about 3/8" thick, wrapping a new air conditioner. I've seen these before, usually as packaging material on appliances and furniture. Putting them down under my work chair and bench I find that a part dropping on it is 'grabbed' by the foam, rather the bouncing away. Also, being white, if the part is any other colour, it shows up.
