Looking at the pictures of the model this is actually an LSD-41 Whidbey Island Class. Really not that much of a difference visually but the Harpers Ferry Class is the Cargo Variant where they shortened the well deck on the inside accommodating less landing craft, but allows for more Marine vehicles and gear to be carried. The most obvious difference as far as looking at the model is that on a Harpers Ferry class there is a large ramp that goes down the flight deck on the port side through a different size/shape hole than that large rectangular hole on the model. Like I said, not much of a difference looking at it, but serving on a Harpers Ferry class and knowing how different the two classes are operationally, I couldn't in good conscious put a hull number on it greater than 48.

I got a good deal on one of these off Ebay a month or so ago. This model has a lot of fantastic detail.
