You are wrong man, even that gun house has some inaccuracies as mentioned,HobbyBoss 5" gunhouses looks more like Mk 32 than Mk 28 ,I differentiate because the front face wall is narrower than the Mk 28W.H.min wrote:No, I don't mean you use the wrong name on that picture. Regarding the 5" mount discussion, hope this helps:
The renderings below were scaled from Navy drawings. They are accurate representations of the Mk.28, Mk.32 and Mk.38, three of the more common marks of 5"/38 cal. twin-gun mount. Each mark is noticeably, dimensionally different.
Careful study of photos of the Alaskas indicates that the mounts fit to those ships were most likely Mk.32. In the photo at bottom, glacis (turret frontal armor) configuration and bolts on the glacis strongly indicate Mk.32.
