Well, you're doing a fantastic job. Not only is your work great, but your photography is awesome as well. Keep up the good work! It's inspiring!Koppalakki wrote:Yea, I kinda want to go as close to reference as possible on this one.
Such a good reference to be had and it does have quite a bit of weathering so not really need for the usual artistic license imo.

I'm only using a mobile phone for a camera but the LED lights do make a difference!
Only bad thing is it takes up a lot of space to set the "studio" up and time consuming because I don't have space to leave it as it is and have to mount/dismount everything everytime I want to take photos.
I'll prolly get a load of photos later this evening for the current progress!

Fascinating! Is the LED lighting strip lighting you frame around the picture area?[/quote]Koppalakki wrote:I'm only using a mobile phone for a camera but the LED lights do make a difference!

I'm very grateful that you are taking the time to do this, I've learnt so much. The step by step photos really make a difference to understanding what you are doing.Koppalakki wrote: Only bad thing is it takes up a lot of space to set the "studio" up and time consuming because I don't have space to leave it as it is and have to mount/dismount everything everytime I want to take photos.

navydavesof,
I'm using a set like this

Also if you missed on page 2

Here they are set up with a white background paper. So yes, a big space is needed
But here's our progress so far again!
Almost all the detailing complete, only the flight deck wall left. Which itself will need some planing as I need to mask the white strips and paint them so all the details cannot be put in yet.
The flight deck dry transfer will also collide with some of the lights on the deck so they need to be placed later aswell.
But I think I got everything planned out so no worries!

All the decks will be brush painted so it should be easy! I planned it so there should be nothing in the way!navydavesof wrote:Most excellent! I am looking forward to how you paint the deck with all those details in the way!

Didn't this class have propellers rotating outward over the top?

No worries
I did put them correctly atleast once. I've taken them off a few times so I don't care how they go untill weathered and fixed in for good!

Hi there, quick question on doing your paint job. Have you ever used a silver as a base, then do the panel lines lightly, then grey on it, giving it that faded paint/metal feel to some parts. Never tried it but just curious since everyone is doing black panel lines on grey base coat.

No I haven't. And I'm fairly certain it would completly disappear. If you'd postshade it then it's a different thing! Though I don't think there's any bare metal showing through anywhere atleast for this effect. Might look cool thoughsilvershadow wrote:Hi there, quick question on doing your paint job. On a second thought if you meant doing the whole base as silver first then black preshade and THEN still letting the silver shine through when painting the grey. Hmmm...
Soon it'll take me years to just get some grey paint on a ship
