1/350 scale Essex class fans! Here is the island of USS Yorktown CV-10, September 1944-1945 appearance. The island was in this appearance during the destruction of the Japanese super-battleship Yamato. Detail differences between this island and those of the Trumpeter kit include an enlarged bridge, integrated open venturi (wind deflector), deck and splinter shielding shapes for 1944-1945, properly shaped funnel cap and integrated grill, accurately shaped internal funnel uptakes - hollow all the way through, Bofors spent-shell casing chutes, accurate external cabling and piping, incinerator exhaust pipe, funnel-side steam pipes for ship's whistles, antenna lead insulator junction boxes, ship's bell, and more!

Steve's last post was likely some of the items from my order that was delivered on Monday. I had ordered all of these items just last week. His work is amazing as are the photos. Now if only I can get my eyes to work that well. Those 6"/53 cal turrets are really something else.

Yes, the photos posted are of the very models you ordered and were sent to you. Very happy that you are pleased with them!

And for Titanic and Lusitania fans, here are Stothert and Pitt cargo and baggage handling cranes and their associated pedestals in 1/350 scale. They are also available in 1/400 scale and 1/200 scale.

The cranes and pedestals are followed by a 1942 aircraft hangar for the German battleship Gneisenau in 1/350 scale. The hangar is also available in 1/400, 1/570, 1/600 and 1/700 scales. The photo seen at bottom of Gneisenau scuttled at war's end as a block ship can be found in Steve Wiper's "Warship Pictorial 39, German Battleships 1939-1945". Highly recommended.

Regarding sponsons, I requested help from a very talented elf but he has decided to pursue a much better paying career in dentistry.

Unfortunately, due to lack of sufficient authoritative references showing each of the many sponsons (at least 3 different views needed for each sponson) for four different ships in their many configurations across many time periods, as well as technical difficulties in designing sponsons that will fit the complex curvature of several different kit manufacturers' differently-shaped hulls in all the various scales Forrestal class kits are available, I am unable to design Forrestal class sponsons.

In other news, Santa's elves (except one) happily, in non-suck fashion, finished these for Lindberg's 1/125 scale "Blue Devil Destroyer":
