Very nice work! What kind of glue are you using for the PE? Nice airbrush work as well.

My goal over the Christmas break is to paint the water adding cotton/varnish effects, stain the wood work, and screw the Yamato's hull to the base.

Finished the water base and mounted to wood base. The glue needs to settle overnight. Next step is staining then painting the sea.

Nice work! Can't wait to see the water come together.
The base material is compressed polyester foam?

Thanks for the compliment! It's standard styrofoam block.

Re: 1/700 YAMATO
Finished the first phase painting the sea. I cut a piece of wood-block to mount the ship and screwed it into the base, then placed two screws into the ship. I had some huge gaps between the waters-edge and the hull. So I used plaster diluted with water, brushed it into the gaps and found it also worked well to create the continuation of the hull where areas shown empty below the waterline. Now I'll let the plater sit overnight to hardened before painting the red hull and the remaining water. Afterwards, I'll create sea foam.

Leaving the machine guns until the end ..they are too fragile and there's more to do on deck.

Building reel hoses. Don't mind the turrets and superstructure; just placing them on the ship as they are not complete.
