Hidding the bow seam on Enterprise

My 1:350 1984 CVN 65 Enterprise arrived today! What I'm curious about is installing the bow. What is the best way to hide the obvious seams that I will have once I join the bow to the hull?

Hi Chas,

Is it the Tamiya kit with the seperate bow piece that gets screwed into place?

If so, the upper parts of the join including the screws are covered by the forward sponsons, the rest of the joint will need to have a filler of some kind run down it and sanded smooth when dry.

Yes this does have the seperate bow piece. I know the motorized kit I put together 40 years ago was 1 piece. Any recommendations on type of filler to use?

I use Bondo auto body filler from an orange tube found at most auto supply stores or the auto section of Walmart, etc. It's a red putty and sands well, it just gets all over the place when you sand it, so be careful.

I found some stuff called "green putty" online that's made specifically for models. Should I grind the seam prior to filling?

I suggest you pick up a copy of Mike Ashley's book "The Basics of Ship Modeling." It should help you a lot.
