hull coverings

Post by jimbo84 »

hey all... been working on a destroyer/light cruiser thing... not sure just making it up as i go along... looks quite good as well...

anyways.. because it has been built from all the spare r/c planes stuff i have lying around i coated the hull in a mix of dope and talcum powder mixed in... and the brilliant thing is... with very light sanding... i have gotten a finish like gel coat...

i just mixed the talcum powder in with the dope until it went like treacle... put 2 thick coats on (sanding inbetween)and it looks when it dries like its been smotherd in vasline... (smoothish) 10 mins sanding with finish sanding paper and i had the perfect finish...

just wandering if anyone else has ever tried this??...

Well, that's pretty much what off the shelf dope based sanding sealer is- and I have used it plenty, and I really like it! Never considered mixing my own though!

It's not who you are, but what you do that defines you.
