Scratch building the USS Washington BB-56

Post by Avery Boyer »

As you might have seen in the Main Forum, I recently decided to scratch build the USS Washington.

I have anther question in additon to the one in the main forum that I felt would be more appropriatley posted here.

I intend to build my model as a bulkhead model and was wondering what thickness of sheet plastic I should use.It seems that I would want to build the frame out of thicker plastic, and the covering using thinner plastic.

As to the thickness,

ribs at least 40thou thick

sides of hull 20 thou thick.

as of 42 im not over familia with the two ships at that date, my scratch build was as 1944 , its in features under NORTH CAROLINA BB55 by ron horabin,
Simple but effective.
