Just received my Scharnhorst from Dawn Hobbies - it's everything and more than I expected. And took only 2 weeks to arrive!
Now I can toss my Tamiya Scharnhorst. As interest, Gneisenau is the only model pictured on the box side.

BTW: Ship's aircraft are in solid gray styrene, except for canopy which is a clear part; that should please everybody - except that one person who doesn't like separate canopies!

Just received mine as well much faster than I was expecting. I�ll take quality like this any day all day. Interesting that the lower part of the bow is a separate piece. Bring on the Deutschlands!

I don't remember when I did have such fast "regular" shipping from China.
Off course, the kit is a dream, as expected.
Flyhawk is really spoiling us with its releases.

It looks like a very good quality kit and throwing previous iterations away is something i would have done had I owned them. This looks very crisp and the hull halves lined up PERFECTLY. Very impressed by that alone.

Someone must remind Flyhawk that one more/giving priority to SMS Scharnhorst is not what we need, ...

"One more Scharnhorst"? There is only one other plastic Scharnhorst in 1/700 - which is the almost 50 yr old Tamiya one which really needs to be replaced by Flyhawk quality. If you're used to getting what you want when you want it, you should know by now that's not how it works in the modelling world (unless you own a plastic model company)!

Think of Flyhawk's Scharnhorst as Porsche's Cayenne. Sure, there is a lot of them but they pay for much more niche cars like the 911 is. So as long as that's the deal, Im happy they keep recycling common ships done right. And one day we will have a lot of Jutland veteran ships in plastic. Great time!

Soooo... Yeah. Anybody else see the news that Very Fire is apparently gonna do a 1/350 USS Cleveland CL-55? Got a flyer in the detail set that I had ordered with the news. Kinda blew my socks off.

So far the 1/350 USS Salem kit is very good and the quality is great!

I wonder if that "Full Hull" is really a Full Hull molding, or if the hull is molded as an upper and lower-hull, that can also be built as waterline?

It says "Can be built as a full-hull or waterline version" so presumably the latter.

Got my Flyhawk Scharnhorst earlier this week as well.

It's a real stunner. I am really not much of a 1/700 builder but I've inspired by some of the recent work around here to have a go. It should be an interesting challenge.

It's got a lot of parts! Looking forward to finishing up some current project to empty out some of my organizers. Got a feeling it will need them.

Also, finally got my Littorio. It's a very nice kit, but it definitely shows the age of some of the core tooling. Much of the kit relies on the Roma tool, which considering the rapid and significant improvement in Trumpeter's overall quality, does seem a touch archaic in 2019 to me anyway. It's a still very nice kit, but it does not come with railing. The new parts specific to Littorio are very nice, and I anticipate a very pleasant build of another of my favorite class of ships.

Additionally I picked up the new tool Type 055 DDG/CG from Bronco. It's a fairly uncomplicated model of an interesting contemporary ship. Does not come with railings unlike their Kunming/Changsha 052D kits. The plastic quality and sharpness of the molds are definitely not as crisp as what we've come to expect of late but it is not too expensive either.

If you like modern ships or Chinese ships, it's pretty simple model that will build up into a fairly decent sized kit. It's about as long as a dreadnought battleship.

The decal set includes one option: 101, the class leader Nanchang, named for the famous capital of Jiangxi province.

Great opportunity to practice post-shading oil-canning effects without a whole lot of clutter.
