Hi Doug!!!
It has been a while since I visited this site but I am super-duper happy to see that you haven't quit this beautiful build!!!
Very excellent work, it is going to take a miracle for anyone to surpass your skills in building a CVN-and probably anything for that matter!
I have a lot of patience, but not compared to you. Those hose reels actually reminded me that my best modelbuilding years are behind me. Couldn't do this, but I am so glad you can, and you are!!!!!
I keep being very impressed in the MOST sincere way!!! Keep it coming !!!

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
Thank you guys for all the comments. I have been painting a plethora of 1/350 scale figures. Very tedious work dang it. When all said and done, I should have around 350 painted. I may end up painting more depending on how sparse that might look considering it's a carrier.....not sure yet. I'll post some pictures later when I get them all done.
LACI!!! Good to hear from you man. Been wondering where you were and if you had been building anything lately. I had been taking what seemed to be long breaks from this build, but I plan on finishing it............however long that will be.......I don't know. I've also been building a 1/700 Ticonderoga Class Cruiser. I got the Flyhawk photo etch set for it so I thought I'd give it a go so I could kind of break up the routine a bit. Maybe after dealing in 1/700 scale, the 1/350 figures won't seem so small!

Just like Laci, it's been while since I been here and I can clearly see I have missed a lot. There are some fine examples here that are gold medal winners. Those jets, the deck vehicles, crew, etc...all those detail, my god you need to see a priest.
better then psychiatrist
Just kidding!!
Truly inspirational work.

I must say your work is truly impressive and has given me great ideas for my own build! As a matter of fact, your ideas with your Tomcats have sparked some of my own additions and modifications. I hope you're able to share some more progress pics in the future as I certainly could use some more ideas!

I hate to ask..... Any idea where this build went?
I've learned so much, and have stretched my skill level at the same time in my build.

Like many similar very ambitious projects it might be postponed-delayed-forgotten. Because such projects require a serious time and tons of things were changed so rapidly in the last 3 years, it is really hard for anyone to keep its focus
I also hope one day, I will see new photos of this project

Re: 1/350 CVN-65 USS Enterprise 2001
Wow....I guess it's been a while since I've posted anything. Unfortunately I don't have anything new but the build is still alive....it's just been in hiatus for some time now. My apologies for the length in delay. Life has changed quite a bit in the last couple of years hasn't it.... Anyway, I am currently dealing with some of those changes and will be moving here in the next couple of months probably so I'm not sure when I'll be able to post next. I do plan on finishing this build as it's always been something I've wanted for a long time now. Thank you guys for still following. Hopefully I can get progress going again this year. Hope everyone is having a Happy New Year.
Doug

Thanks for posting on how to "backdate" the Trumpeter Super Tomcats!DWD wrote:Kodai, thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated. William4443, I think I may have your fix.![]()
I have kind of shifted gears a little bit and have left the hangar work in limbo until I can get my hands on the ships personnel boats. I'm hoping that Greg (GJHolmes77) can come through and design some for 3D printing through shapeways soon.![]()
Since there will be some aircraft in the hangar, I decided to start working on the aircraft again. I am using the Trumpeter F-14 B/D sets and one of the areas that I wanted to improve was the engines nozzles. Since the Trumpeter F-14's come with engine nozzles representative of the F110-GE-400 which were used on all F-14D's, I needed the F-14's on my deck to have the TF-30 engine nozzles which are the early type engines represented well by the Tamiya F-14A offerings. I decided that I would utilize all the Tamiya F-14's I had on hand and do some kit bashing. The photos should explain the process I went though in order to make this conversion. More info in regards can be found here http://www.modelwarships.com/reviews/mi ... eview.html

Hiiiiiiiiii Doug!
I hope to see your progress soon!
It has been sooo long! I am going to finish my Vincennes this year, and just today I was reminiscing about the beginnings of it... That project started in 2013!!! on and off, just like you.... But it's the end result that counts, and your Enterprise will be one for the books!!! It is such an amazing, precise build! You have great talent, can't wait for your return!
Cheers: Laci
