Hi Nektarios,
What PE sets did you use to complete this model, that BTW looks great?

Re: Postwar navy.
Hey guys,
After a hiatus of a few years, I'm back at the workbench (it would be a shame to just mothball all those unbuilt kits I still have laying around).
Seems that quite a lot has changed over the last few years. Not only are there kits available to almost every modern navy ship type, but the number of aftermarket detailing sets and the quality is just mind-boggling.
I'm hoping this thread isn't dead yet because I would love to see what you guys are currently working on.

Re: Postwar navy.
Hey guys,
Here's what I've been spending a few hours on so far. I decided to get back into it with an Aoshima kit of the JMSDF destroyer Takanami (DD-110).
I started with the aft superstructure by adding a few details and all the necessary platforms that the modernized ships of the class now have. Since the kit does not offer a hangar, I scratchbuilt one. Radomes, CIWS, antennas, railings and other equipment will be added later on. Apart from Aoshima's Takanami/Murasame photo-etch set, I also wanted to get my hands on one of BigBlueBoy's aftermarket MK-141 launchers. What can I say... I doubt it can get anymore detailed in 1/700

Excellent job. BigBlueBoy aftermarket sets are among the best sets offered today. They make a good kit superbly detailed.orb wrote:Hey guys,

Re: Postwar navy.
Hey guys,
Here's a small update on the progress. Superstructures are now mostly finished (railings will be added later on). Quite a few things were a bit tricky to build, for instance the little midship platform behind the RHIB crane (pic 1). While it's not perfect, I'm still happy with the result. I spent quite a bit of time sanding and correcting all the surfaces that did not match the original ship. Next up is the work on the bow and stern as well as all the PE.
Gtbred, I know exactly what you mean. My eyes definitely haven't gotten any better since the last time I was building. 1/350 would just take up too much space for me, so I'll be sticking to 1/700
Nektarios, I see you're building a few ships that I also have in my queue. Would be great to see some photos of your wip.

Finally starting to look like a real ship now
