Spotted this image on a Chinese Website where a Vendor sells the Trumpeter Kits -
and advertises their wares on Facebook
it seems the 1/200 Scale Scharnhorst Kit , is fully tooled and ready to release -
Also - not sure if this was stated or not - but the 1/350 Bismarck is to be released for sale in April this year ( 2020 ) .

but for me , the much more welcome news - is in the background !!

Its an interesting hull of the 1/350 Scale Scharnhorst Hull - with a big section of the
lower Hull at the Bow which has been cut off - maybe the 1/350 hull is provided as an example of the scale difference

Also - not sure if this was stated or not - but the 1/350 Bismarck is to be released for sale in April this year ( 2020 ) .

I hate to rain on your parade, I am really looking forward to a non-Dragon 1/350 Scharnhorst, but that is the 1/350 Bismarck.

The superstructure is on the hull backwards - The B/Bruno barbette is towards the stern and the X/Caesar barbette is coving up the A/Anton barbette.

You will also note at the far right of the frame there are twin 38cm turrets on the sprue.

Thanks for finding this picture, I for one am ecstatic about the 1/200 Scharnhorst and plan to get it in the next year or two.

I thought the 1/350 Ship in the background looked weird as the aft Turret Barbette seemed far away from the other one
and didn't look ' right ' but posted the image anyway as the 1/200 Scharnhorst image was still very newsworthy

in my defence the image was blurry for the 1/350 ship in the background - many thanks for your kind comments

What�s interesting as well is they are also listing their 1/350 B-25, F4F, SBD and TBD as new items.... wonder if a new Hornet is secretly in the works?

According to Trumpeter's Facebook page - if I read correctly - Olympic ISN'T something in the pipeline, it's someone else's conversion of the Titanic.

A video posted on the same Facebook page offers a walk around. In this you see someone has written over �1/350� and changed it to �1/200�. Love the 200�s detail, just space is a premium but I may need to make an exception for such a good looking ship.

Item numbers for 1/350 generally seem to be prefixed 05xxx or 04xxx and the 1/200 is 03xxx.

You are quite correct of course - item code for 1/350 Scharnhorst is 05361 and Gneisenau os 05360. Hopefully there are not too far away, I need that Gneisenau.

Incidently, I only just noticed that the 1/350 Tirpitz has boxart now.

That is how I feel, I can accommodate a single new 1/200 capital ship before it is time to find a new address.

Some interesting news to share on the forthcoming ( April 2020 ) German Battleship Bismarck
by Trumpeter of China Models in 1/350 Scale - I found this photo today - large scale and very clear
and two points are immediately more clearer -
( 1 ) Trumpeter seem to have ditched ( see Red Arrow ) the old Black Plastic
' Dry Dock Style ' Display Stand for Large Scale Ships like 1/350 Battleships -
note this is a totally new style - not like the one that HMS Belfast came with , for example .

( 2 ) I solved why the Bismarck Model had the bow with a cut-out at the lower , forward hull -
The Bismarck has a plastic plug in two halves for the lower bow -
which the modeller must fit to the model ( and hopefully won't need filler to mask the gaps )

I actually suspect this is a set of braces for the inside of the hull. A lot of the newer Trumpeter/HB kits have these braces to prevent distortion. I am very happy that they have been adding them, makes the hulls much more durable and I think it makes it easier to glue since it is essentially a jig for gluing the halves together (when the hull is split, this new Bismarck looks like a one piece affair - the braces should slide straight down).

Here are the equivalent parts for the 1/200 Rodney, they should look familiar:



I would not be surprised if there was no stand - I have a couple newer kits from them that don't have one.

Apparently Trumpeter decided to only produce the LED version. Freetime told me last week that they expected to start getting theirs in 2 weeks from then (so probably 1 week from now), and would start filling preorders then.

Does anyone know if Trumpeter are picking up Gallery Models kit moulds and re-releasing? I notice Hannants are listing the Gallery LPD21 �USS New York� but out of stock, but also a Trumpeter LPD21 �USS New York� with a description of �(ex Gallery)� in their future releases section. My question (or wish) is are they going to also buy out and release Gallery�s CV11 USS Intrepid?
