I have been trying tome a similar chain but need to use a stronger wood, my links tend to break in the middle. Might I ask what wood you use for this?

Hi,Tom!
Yes,it's very delicate and difficult to make two holes. The distance between holes, you can find break point.
Other method,Make one hole and apply quick-dry glue near hole and then make other hole.
My wood is Ginko.

I've made control wheels. It make inner circle and insert spoke shaft and finally make duter circle carefully.
Making chain stppers, it's difficult to make turn buckles.
Just see the pictures.

Nice job on the chain stoppers, it all looks really good. I fortunately only needed a very short section of chain as my ship has a short foredeck. My hardwood supplier might have ginkgo but he is currently closed, like many shops in town. I ended up making the chain for styrene. I would just line the plastic up on the drill press and make groups of two holes and then trim around the edges. The plastic is more difficult to round the edges of the links, but worked better than my efforts with basswood, pine, cherry and walnut.

Impressive work on the hand wheels as well!
