got to wonder why are they so much AA variation for the april 1945 yamato, and will the difference between the A-140 F variant be visible or not at a 1/350 scale (I may use the tamiya odel for those one) https://warshipprojects.com/2018/04/24/ ... s-genesis/

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
Well, since the final AA refit was done just before Ten-ichigo, and no good photos or plans of it survived the war, the older reconstructions were done piece-meal and based on memory of survivors and incomplete information. (The best photos of Yamato and Musashi that survive are from earlier in the war when her deck gun and AA configurations were significantly different).thebunkerparodie wrote:got to wonder why are they so much AA variation for the april 1945 yamato, and will the difference between the A-140 F variant be visible or not at a 1/350 scale (I may use the tamiya odel for those one) https://warshipprojects.com/2018/04/24/ ... s-genesis/
Once the wreck of Yamato was found in the late 1980s and exploration of it commenced, the missing pieces were filled in and supplemented by diagrams that were found here and there in personal archives of former members of the IJN or their families...

Thanks. Unfortunately, I missed adding 2 additional ten-ichigo AA fire control directors located in between the funnel and the main structure ... there's just so much stuff you need to add to those old Nichimo kits ...thebunkerparodie wrote:ok thanks, now I'll regard the old interpretation as what if A140F6/n111/N797 and I think your yamato is pretty great too

got to wonder were do you see the AA on the rear and the stern on this pic (too blurry to me)

(nice gallery ,pretty useful for documentation)
May I use tamiya yamato/musashi for the n797 ship or some modernized A-140 F? (not planning on ordering them right now though,1:350 scale is still too big for me),also the number of torpedo hit being taken by yamato seem to varry a lot too (from 22 to 35 at least) and what do you think of the updated anatomy of the ship with the musashi (the AA placement for the 1945 yamato is still different)

It helps if you squint your eyes while viewing the photothebunkerparodie wrote:got to wonder were do you see the AA on the rear and the stern on this pic (too blurry to me)

Anyway, you look for the shadows - I have pointed out the 4 rear flight deck AA mounts with red arrows. (The two black dots in the middle are the two mounts on top of turret #3).

I'm thinking of taking a commission musashi for an A140 F5 model (I don't the difference in dimension would be that important at a 1/700 scale)

Got to wonder were does the 3 25 in the 15,5cm triple turret zone come from

For a 1/700 accurate yamato,I'm going to go with the pit road kit and the new tool tamiya cost way too much for me

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
I have the pascal colombier book on the 3 yamato, they got all thing right but not the AA of the ten ichi go yamato ,I sended to caraktere this post and asked them for an update regarding the AA,I like A10 table and the 3d view of both musashi and shinano (presented achievied in both the book and the LOS! magazine).

Note: the book is in french and out of stock,I got mine because I asked one of the autor from caraktere and he accepted to offer his book to me (lucky me!)

what is the green zone?bucketfoot-al wrote:Musashi Citadel deck diagram, showing changes to superstructure 1942-1944.
Note that the rocket launcher pads are NOT SHOWN on the 1944 diagram. It would have been in the position of the last spotlight just aft of the funnel.

why did the new anatomy of the ship labeled this photo as musashi and not yamato? http://www.battleshipyamato.com/index.a ... 4?i=86&s=1

Because they made a mistake.thebunkerparodie wrote:why did the new anatomy of the ship labeled this photo as musashi and not yamato? http://www.battleshipyamato.com/index.a ... 4?i=86&s=1
Believe me, over the years I have seen many Yamato photos mislabeled as Musashi (and vice-versa). This photo, however, there is no doubt about. I have never (until now) heard of it being mislabeled as Musashi. It is Yamato.

Also, the new anatomy of he ship leyte yamato doesn't have the n1 turret black (from the photo it's what I think the coor of the turret was).
Also ,I'm thinking of doing an preliminary A140 design using the tamiya musashi (the old tool one)

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
would the external difference between n110/111 and the original yamato be seen at a 1/700 scale (beside the AA)? I'm planning to use the kii (A150) from fujjimi for a n110 with it's turret replaced by the 510mm one
