I want the 1/350 1991 Ranger. I have all these 14's and 18's just waiting to be build. I can take Steve's 1/350 Independence island and modify into Ranger.

Hi Red,
Important safety tip: Ranger never deployed F/A-18s. The last A-7Es were a reserve air wing det. in 1986. CVW-2 was Tomcats, Intruders, Prowlers, Vikings, Hawkeye's, and Sea Kings.

Looking forward to seeing your build of her when Greg gets the pats done!

Hi guys,
I am new here and I am building a part of the USS Ranger 1:72 from scratch. I have the drawings of the Saratoga but I cant make up a good scale. What I want to know is the height of the hangardeck? Some sources say 25 feet, other sources 30-35? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Bas

Hi Greg, sorry if I missed this, but does this mean there will be 1/720 Ranger sponsons available in the future?gjholmes77 wrote:Mark and Mardis,
I do have a lot of projects going but I've got one of the Italeri Forrestal kits and am turning it into a Desert Storm USS Ranger. The front sponsons actually fit pretty well when I tried so I will try to get those scaled up to 1/350 soon. It shouldn't be too hard to make the earlier versions once that is done. Short answer is: I'm working on it finally![]()

It's kind of both. The Hangar Deck is the Main Deck which is 25' below the Hangar ceiling, AND 36' below the Flight deck.Bas Hermsen wrote:Hi guys, I am new here and I am building a part of the USS Ranger 1:72 from scratch. Yep, those are them and they are a decent fit to the Italeri kit. Since they are pretty small I am going to put them in a set with the port aft Phalanx sponson and the enclosed fantail and extension. I got the test print for the fantail last week and it's a little too big so I will fix it and order a new one soon once it turns out perfect I will make them available to everyone. Then it is on to the hangar bay

Excellent news! Put me down for a set asap! I would prefer an island before the hangar thoughgjholmes77 wrote:Yep, those are them and they are a decent fit to the Italeri kit. Saratoga and Independence Islands.

The Independence Island works for Ranger as well. Forrestal and Saratoga were a little different.
They are available in different scales as well.
Good Luck,
Mark

Re: Calling all Forrestal class & Kitty Hawk class CV Fans
Hi guys, just got trumpeters 1/350 Kitty Hawk(will pick her up in the next few weeks) with the mk.1 upgrade set. From what Ive read in reviews its hanger deck doesnt have many details and hasnt got hanger deck doors? As Im not too experienced in ships(currently working on 1/350 trumpeter Cornwall oob 1st in many years) was wondering where to start on scratch building some details for the hanger deck or making hanger doors(havent seen any pictures of em)? Any help would be much appreciated

Mardis,
Yes, the Ranger hangar will have the bulkheads. Still working on the details but it should be great once I'm done.

Hi Greg,
Don't forget us 1/700 kids! I plan to use a Fujimi Constellation as a starting point for a 1968 Ranger. I have the kit and the Island from Model Monkey so just need your sponsons and now a Hanger Bay.
Awesome!
