the seller that won't ship to US is maybe because of tariffs imposed by Trump on Chinese imports into the States.

I don't think there are tariffs on model kits?

And it probably will...world-wide deliveries are at a snail's pace, and even domestic mail can take weeks!

The reason we are waiting is that it is not released yet. It was announced several years ago. Methinks they have just forgotten about it.

Now I just need to find a seller in the US. I think customs opened the one model I got from overseas to inspect it. It turned out ok but I'm not too crazy about the chance of them losing something.

Gneisenau is out on ebay. The "special edition" has PE and brass barrels.

That is exciting news. The rear turret was placed as a coastal artillery just a few kilometers from where I grew up. It is now a museum in a popular hiking area.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I wasn't planning on building a coastal fort (until now). Rather, I thought of building the Gneisenau since I've known about that ship since I was probably 6, and visited the battery several times, although never entered.

According to the Trumpeter site the 1/700 Type 054A frigate is full-hull so that might be the case with the type 052C as well.
