Type VIIc U-boat Deck Plans

Post by DateSaburouYukiie »

Hello to all of the group. I am new to this forum, but am highly interested in Type VII U-boats. I am working on a 1:35 scale miniature (yea...miniature) of a Type VIIc U-boat that I want to build entirely from scratch.
Worse, I want to do it as a cut-away, so I can show the guts.

It is a huge project that I want to do - the finished model would be just over 6 feet at 1:35th scale, but hey - when you want to learn to sky dive, you have to let go of the plane, eh?!!! ;-)
I have tons of experience doing WWII German armor, and am confident that my skills are up to it, provided I have good ref. material.

I have been collecting drawings for boats of this type, especially ones from Kiel, but would like to ask if anyone can point me to drawings of the guts, innards, technical plans, and especially deck plans for a Type VIIc first generation U-boat.
I read German and English, so foriegn language plans do not intimidate me.
Thanks in advance...

I would suggest that you obtain a copy of the "Anatomy of the Ship, The Type VII U-boat" by David Westwood and published by Conway Maritime Press. ISBN 0851779336.

This book had many detailed drawings of these boats including internal and external elevations.

If you have difficulty in finding a copy please feel free to contact me, as I have a spare copy.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Scouse.

Thanks - I'll check that one out today and see if my book store has it locally.

Go to U-boat Net. I'm sure they will have all the info you need.
Any ship larger than a Destroyer is a waste of metal.
