So the SBD Dauntless did have folding wings after all?

No it did not. It was not possible for Douglas at the time to get the stability to withstand to pressure of dive bombing and out folding wings on it. Even the late model SBD-5 did not have folding wings. That was one of the Navys complaints about. It was also one of the chief reasons for replacing it with the Helldiver.

My understanding is that Vee Models is in some way related to Joy Yard.

I see Aoshima is releasing a variant of HMS Kent in December.

http://www.aoshima-bk.co.jp/en/product/4905083056738/

Wouldn't it be nice if they decide to expand the County class coverage to other ships as well? Anyone know if that is planned?

I for one would like a May 1941 Suffolk, a Canberra too!

Hi PaulC, I dont want to calm your excitement too much, but have you seen any of the Aoshima 1/700 Kent-class already? Unfortunately, they are not much up to the quality of many recent 1/700 releases (Fujimi, Flyhawk...). They can still be used as a basis for further improvement or conversion, but youd end up with a lot of plastic waste then ;)

Hi Vladi,

I actually have built four and am working on a 5th (as Berwick)! While I do appreciate the incredible and intricate work so many of you guys do, I just do my best with what I have and am happy with them.

While Aoshima's quality can't even remotely compare to Flyhawk's - if I was waiting on Flyhawk, I wouldn't have ANY 1/700 Counties right now, much less 5.

For Suffolk, better Aoshima tools the stern cut down than for me to risk trying it myself!

So, with them still releasing variants of ships they've already done, I hope they'll do more of the class.

Ok, Paul, you are right. I should have kept that comment to myself, sorry for that... It just reflected my own frustration from the Kent kit, I had much higher expectations.
I now stop stealing this thread on this topic - back to modelling! :wave_1:

Not exactly a model warship, but I'll be getting one:

RPG models, the people that brought us 1/35 CWIS close in weapon system kit and a 1/35 Searam will be doing a 1/35 GoalKeeper close in weapon system model kit:

Hope to see more 1/35 ship-board weapon systems in the future.

Just saw that this morning, but I'm kinda disappointed. 1/70 scale? What the heck is that? Would have killed them to go 1/72? Besides 1/35 would have been amazing. I'm hoping Takom and RPG Mdels have even more Naval weapon systems kits in the future.

I wonder if HobbyBoss/Trumpeter will anounce new semi drednought soon, they made Danton and Lord Nelson so Satsuma should be next i guess.
I would love to see more of full pre drednoughts especially french to be honest.

Also does anyone have any news on Veryfire 1:350 Aoba?

What time frame did they present there Enterprise in ??? Looks like her original 1.1 inch AA has been swapped out for 40 mm quads.... Aircraft would suggest Midway ??

1.1in guns weren't removed until after Eastern Solomons. It's been previously mentioned that it's most likely a Santa Cruz fit.

Correction that was likely a typo. The 40mm were what is added after Eastern Solomons.
