Hey Girls, take a look at MY bowcrest!

How to make a predreadnought bowcrest for those perky Great White Fleet ships, you ask? Here's how I did the job in the Divine Scale.

Step 1: Cut from metal foil the basic shape, usually a wingy thing.
Glue this to the ship, then proceed.
Step 2. Adorn it with PE figures. Cut off various limbs to reduce the 'human' factor in their appearance, and create a swirly mixture of shapes.
Step 3: At the front, place a PE door with relief detail. On this you can then paint the red,white and blue or any other desired crest detail.
You can top this off by sprinkling with single anchor chain elements.

I'll show you my Brooklyn crest when it's painted!

I can't wait to see the final result. In 1/700 scale it must look very realistic and detailed!

Here she is. With a bit of suspension of disbelief, it'l pass for a bowcrest. Please not note the dented vents (they all had it!) or the shoddy paint work. Whole model not yet finished...

Even if the model is not finished it is still a beautiful build so far. As I thought, the bow crest looks awesome! I don't have any pre-dreadnought in the stash yet but I'm definitely keeping that trick in my "tips folder" just in case.
